Real-Time Radiography (Digital RTR)

Real-Time Radiography (RTR) is considered an advanced radiographic technique. JANX uses the state of the art RTD Rayscan real-time digital radiographic (RTR) system. This technology utilizes a direct detector panel that captures the radiographic beams and converts those beams into electrical signals that are then digitized into high-resolution digital images. The amount of radiation required for a digital radiography image is far less than that is required to achieve the same resolution with conventional radiography. Inspections utilizing Real-Time Radiography NDT are completed with a single scan, and the images can be permanently stored and uploaded to a cloud-based server or client specified database for remote auditing capabilities.

JANX has a variety of scanner combinations and configurations to suit our clients’ needs ranging from 2” to 42”

Value-driven by operational efficiency

  • Cost-efficient
    • No film or consumables, 100 percent digital process
    • No need for film storage space, all files stored electronically
    • Higher production rates per crew, fewer crews required
  • Quick cycle time
    • High scan speed allows for inspection to keep up with production
    • No film development time, saving valuable time to interpret results
  • Direct interpretation and immediate results
    • Identify weld quality issues in advance

Data Interpretation and Data Management

  • Scans accessible viasecure cloud or customer specified database
    • Enables remote interpretation and auditing
    • Improves file management and archiving

Improved operational safety and reduced environmental impact

  • Reduced radiation required due to the collimated X-Ray beam
  • Shielded scanner design reduces operator exposure and reduces radiation boundaries
  • Environment-friendly, no chemical waste management or disposal required

Proven capabilities and demonstrated results

  • Third-party independently certified to perform:
    • With a minimum 90 percent probability of detection at a 95 percent confidence level for critical imperfections, according to DNV-OS-F101:2013 (ISO 17636-2 Class B) requirements for film-based radiography
    • Better than conventional radiography double wall exposure / single wall view technique using ASTM Class 1 film (AGFA D4) and similar to the conventional radiography panoramic technique using ASTM Class 2 films (AGFA D7)
  • RTD Rayscan has been utilized on several major new construction projects across the U.S., having inspected over half a million welds since 2010.
  • Compliant with API 1104, ASME V, Art.2, including Mandatory Appendix IX, DNV OS-F101, EN-ISO 17636-2

RTD Rayscan, the ultimate solution

  • Stronger X-Ray tubes for better penetration through heavy wall pipe, yielding better image quality
  • Direct-acting detectors for better sensitivity, improved image quality, and faster production speed
  • Advanced double-wall scanner yields optimal tube positioning resulting in more consistent image quality
