In 1981, Jan X-Ray Services opened for business in Parma, Michigan, as a two-truck operation. From 1981 to 2000, JANX thrived as a conventional NDT provider. Since that time, the company has been on a steady path of growth:

1981

JAN X-Ray Services, Inc. was incorporated by John A Newland. JANX was immediately awarded a large scope of work performing Radiographic inspection on a new construction pipeline. Strong reputation, legitimate experience, and the motivation to succeed put JANX ahead of the competition.

1981-2000

During this time, JANX thrived as a conventional NDT provider, setting the stage for sustained positive grown in the new millennium.

2001

JANX Introduced a number of advanced testing capabilities including Shearwave and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing. In 2000 JANX introduced advanced testing technologies, including shear wave and phased array ultrasonic testing.

2008

In 2008, JANX was acquired by Applus+, injecting capital into the business and giving JANX access to the leading-edge NDT technologies developed by Applus+ which provides NDT and inspection services globally. Those technologies included the game-changing RTD Rotoscan, Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) technology. Currently, JANX uses 150 AUT systems.

The Kinder Morgan Midcontinent Express Pipeline project was executed during this year, too, solidifying JANX’s place as a national leader in new pipeline construction inspections.

2012

JANX gained access to game-changing RTD Rayscan, a state-of-the-art Real Time Digital (RTR) Radiography System. Today, we are one of two companies providing RTR. We employ 55 systems for clients throughout the U.S.

2015 – 2017

The RTD Rotoscan and RTD Rayscan earned coveted DNV certification, verifying the technologies’ innovative capabilities.

Present

Today, JANX is an NDT industry leader operating in 43 U.S. states. We have 535 employees and inspect more than 1,000 miles of pipeline every year.
